Gnolls
Gnolls are savage, pack-driven hunters known for their brutality and lack of mercy. They rarely build or create, instead taking what they need through force raiding, scavenging, and enslaving those they overpower.
They are opportunistic creatures, thriving in harsh environments where stronger civilizations have faltered. Gnoll packs often follow conflict, feeding off the aftermath and establishing dominance wherever resistance is weakest.
While some appear disorganized at first glance, their behavior within a pack is anything but random. Each member serves a role, from low-ranking scavengers to more dangerous frontline fighters.
The party first encountered gnolls within the salt mines where they were held, where the creatures acted as slavers and enforcers.
Pack Roles
Gnoll Scavenger

The lowest rank within a gnoll pack, scavengers pick through remains, gather resources, and harass weaker prey. While individually unimpressive, they are rarely encountered alone.
Gnoll Claw Fighter

More dangerous and aggressive than their lesser kin, claw fighters serve as the primary enforcers of a gnoll pack. They engage directly in combat, overwhelming opponents with speed and ferocity.
Observations
Gnolls rarely operate alone. Even when only a few are visible, others are often nearby watching, waiting, or circling.
Their presence is often a sign that something worse has already happened nearby.
