Dragons are among the most powerful and mysterious beings in Zerith, creatures whose very existence is steeped in magic. Like the land itself, their power is not learned, it is inherent.
Encounters with dragons are rare, and no two are ever the same. Each is an individual force, with its own will, purpose, and influence on the world around it.
2026-02-28-Dragon Marks and Scars
The magic of a dragon does not end with its presence, it lingers.
A dragon may choose to impart a portion of its power through a mark. This is a deliberate act, given with purpose, and considered a rare honor. The process is slow and precise, the dragon carefully carving the mark into the recipient’s skin without drawing blood. It can take hours, or even days, to complete.
Those who bear such marks may gain powerful benefits, though the mark itself often carries social weight, admiration from some, fear or suspicion from others.
Not all marks are given willingly.
To be wounded by a dragon is to be permanently changed. The magic within the creature prevents the injury from ever fully healing. The resulting scar cannot be removed, concealed, or restored, not even through magic.
Whether hidden beneath clothing or left exposed, a dragon’s scar is a lifelong reminder of the encounter.
