Plants & Fungi

Not all dangers in Zerith take the form of creatures. Some lie dormant, rooted, silent, and waiting for the careless to draw too near.

Fungal growths and plant life found in ruins and deep places often serve as natural defenses, whether by design or evolution. Many react violently to disturbance, making even a cautious step potentially dangerous.

Fungal Hazards

Mycanoid Gas Spore

A deceptive growth resembling an inert mushroom cluster. When disturbed, the spore ruptures violently, releasing a dense cloud of toxic gas. Those caught too close often have little time to react before the poison takes hold.

Shrieker

At a glance, a shrieker appears harmless just another pale fungal growth clinging to stone or damp earth. But when disturbed, it emits a piercing, sustained shriek capable of echoing through entire sections of a dungeon.

While not dangerous on its own, a shrieker’s true threat lies in what it summons.

Notable Flora

Baranonya Trees

(Unnamed Moss)

A strange and potentially significant growth encountered during the party’s travels. Its full properties remain unclear, though its role in past events suggests it is far from ordinary.

Further study, or future encounters, may reveal more.
