Stillwell Inkblazer is gnomish tinkerer and archivist. While he has hidden away to his workshop, every few years he releases doctrines on magic and the world, which are then mass produced, and used in all respectable schools of magic across the land (and the Feywild.)

Inkwell was born in the small farming town of Fiddlefell, a gnomish hamlet a 2 day ride south of Teralis. While the town has long since been devoured by the wilderness and forgotten, Stillwell has become one of the most well known names within the magic community. The Inkblazer family clan in the community was said to be the core of the local fire brigade after the local printing press burned down, though reports are unclear if they were a fire brigade who put out fires or started them. Regardless, Stillwell was born into the well to do family, and had a passion for writing even from a young age. He studied very briefly at the Damarian academy, but found academic life to be too structured. He instead set out to “learn life’s lessons from the best teacher, experience.”

Between his fey heritage and his time studying, he had a knack for both magic and machine. Within his first year on the road, published his first dissertation, A Treatise on Magic. It’s insights and relatable metaphors soon became a staple throughout Zerith. He also somehow managed to chronicle events as if he were present while it was happening, though no one is quite sure. Some assume he has a magic scrying device, others say they’ve spotted a large mushroom on the edge of the horizon which will magically appear, then disappear, all around the time and place of major events. Every few years a new publication seems to suddenly appear on shelves in the mage academies and libraries across the land.

Stillwell’s most recent works, The Dangers of Magical Automation came out in the spring of 789, which puts his age at somewhere around 680, though pinpointing his exact birth date and year in nearly impossible since the town he was born in burned down before the wilderness overtook it. Magical scholars can’t wait to see what he produces next.
