The Daelen Wood is a vast and ancient forest stretching for hundreds of miles, dominated by colossal varan trees whose dense canopy allows little light to reach the forest floor. The wood is old—older than most records—and carries an air of quiet permanence that few who pass through can easily describe.
Though rarely seen, the forest is known to be inhabited by a reclusive group of elves called the Vael’en. They are seldom encountered directly, and little is widely known about their ways, beyond their careful stewardship of the forest.
Scattered throughout the Daelen Wood are the rare and luminous Baranonya Trees—massive sequoias marked by faint multihued specks of glowing sap and a subtle prismatic sheen. These trees are unique to the region and are the source of Baranonya Sap, a substance cultivated by the Vael’en and occasionally traded beyond the forest.
While the exact properties of Baranonya Sap remain largely unknown, it is sometimes used by wizards as a magical component, valued more for its origin than any widely understood function.
To most of the world, the Daelen Wood remains a place of quiet mystery—respected, avoided, and rarely understood.
